Sculptural chair and table made entirely out of layers of stacked books, all cleverly arranged into usable furniture.
Dutch designer Richard Hutten takes the phrase “getting lost in a good book” to a whole new level with Book Chair and Book Table.
Hardcover books are stacked horizontally, layered like bricks in a pattern that forms the arms, back, and seat of the chair.
The book spines are exposed on all sides, showcasing a mix of vintage encyclopedias, classic novels, and forgotten coffee table tomes.
The Book Chair looks like a throne built from a bibliophile’s wildest dream, or nightmare, depending on how you feel about glue and first editions.
The table follows the same philosophy: 4 thick pillars of tightly packed books support a flat top made of multicolored book covers arranged like a pixel grid.
