Cool 76-story residential tower designed by famous architect Frank Gehry.
At 870 feet tall, New York by Gehry is the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere and a great addition to the Manhattan skyline.
The exterior is covered with stainless steel waves that reflect the light and transform the appearance of the structure throughout the day.

it is unfortunate that it blocks a view of the woolworth building from much of brooklyn, but as far as luxury condos go, it’s hard to beat.

On it’s own, it’s really beautiful, but I can’t help but think that it doesn’t really jive well with the chracter of the manhattan skyline.

This building is gorgeous. It’s wonderful to see great, innovative, and yes, controversial skyscrapers on the Manhattan sky line.

Wow. Beautiful building. Interesting comments.
@EugiKo: Yes, it’s weird. He’s famous for that style.
@latincrow: Not lazy, subtle.
I’d love to live in a building like that. Such slender, vertical structures save more of the surface of the earth for nature. And seeing as how more dense, urban living has been the trend for a few hundred years now, I’m sure we’ll all be living in settings similar to this in the future.
I wonder about the design on thr interior of this building. It obviously has a largr interior. It would be nice if the center were filled with lightweight gardens and recreational areas, so that more of the residential spaces would be pushed toward the outside, where the views of the city are.

Again architects hate window cleaners… But the aluminum or steel he used for the walls is a nice touch since it doesn’t show dirt as fast as some other materials.
