50th Anniversary MINI Coupe Concept

50th Anniversary MINI Coupe Concept

It has been exactly 50 years since the first MINI was introduced to the public on August 26, 1959. To celebrate MINI’s birthday, BMW has unveiled this sporty MINI Coupé Concept.

Limited to two seats, the car is designed to accommodate even the most powerful engine currently available in the MINI – and with the 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged power unit, MINI Coupé promises to offer truly outstanding performance.

    pretty sweet. i’m a fan.

  2. Megan

I know Mini fans hate change, but this one looks good.

  3. Niyari

dyam this one is a nice mix into other styles

  4. Maya

As a MINI owner, I must say, this is really a HOT looking concept!

  5. Marius

Mini looks now like Mustang’s little baby:) This really is a cool car.

  6. Kolin

what is it with BMW and squashing things? they squashed an X5 and made the X6, and now they’ve squashed a Cooper S to make this!

Squashed is the new spacious. :)

  7. d35tr04

    awesome!!!!

  8. Denis

This IS a beautiful car…a gem!

  9. Boris

No no no. This is starting to look more like an Audi than a Mini. The point with Mini is that it is eccentric, without the paintwork this looks way to German

  10. elemgee

Does this feel as huge inside as the existing MINI? One of the best features of the current MINI is that it is improbably comfortable and spacious inside. I’m 6’4″ and am comfortable on long drives in the MINI like few other cars.

Of course, this may not be the goal of this “concept” but I wonder if the comfort of the cockpit design couldn’t be described as a MINI core characteristic. Does this follow that path?

  11. Cechas

    I love small cars ;]

  12. Jonny

Hmmmm – I’m no sure about this. Looks a bit clunky and awkward.

The current Mini sells well because it is a spiritual reincarnation of the original Mini whereas this is clearly not.

Nope – looks like a bad home-done roof-chop job to me. The back looks marginally better but overall not a fan.

  13. Jamie

Absolutely stunning!!!!! I definitely want one!

  14. NeonDevil

Does it also come in as a convertible?

  15. Tania

I expected more… not sure about this one… doesn’t look that good especially the back,.. the back wheels seem strangely out of place. I guess I can get used to it though. 6.5/10 for me.

  16. Andrew Long

    Love it!

  17. Stuart Noton

Not entirely sure about the rather plasticky looking splitter, but it certainly looks quite agressive (for a mini). As usual, I’ll have to wait until I see one “in the flesh” to really find out!

  18. Jim Warren

I will see it in Frankfurt in a month, but looking at the pics I see my next Mini.

  19. Graydian

haha – it got sat on.

  20. Hsoj Spillihp

    no mini. don’t do it.

  21. patekswiss

front looks reasonably good, nice rake. the roof… what are you thinking…. the rear…. looks like Mini is trying to do for the coupe what the PT cruiser did for the convertible… PLEASE GOD NO!!!!

  22. Beezy

i think they could have pushed it more…

  23. Fiat500sforever

just goes to show how utterly tasteless mini owners are.

  24. Susan Lokaj

    this is just wrong

  25. delere

Ok, Using a plane to show scale doesn’t work for most people. How about putting a person in the picture.

  26. tdatx

    I’ll buy this.

  27. Jessica Magert

    Looks like a matchbox car.

  28. Liz

Looks like any other sporty thing out there. A mini has undergone enough changes. Call it something else, cos it’s not ugly, just not a mini.

  29. OneHungLow

Looks like it is wearing a bad toupe with a comb-over. Proportions not quite right; similar to old Z4 coupe where the butt seems chopped off. To sell these, BMW needs to make it potent. Imagine the old M3 engine (6 cylinder) stuffed into one of these things. Until then I’ll stick with the MCS.

  30. Tiny Tim

    Atrocious.

  31. john

no please do not do it, leave it as it is. beautyful.

  32. Captainlaziness

I dig it! Great stance and attitude.

  33. Ian

reminds me of a lotus europa, hopfully a little more affordable.

  34. Shoshok

I love it, it’s suits my personality

  35. prasanth

simply awesome nd may i know the price of it

  36. Kevin

From some angles it looks really cool, but from others not so much.

  37. sam

    what’s the price

  38. Sean

I’ve seen these in person and they’ve become my favorite Mini. I love the S!
